I agree with what most people have been saying in this thread, but I think a lot of games have also been way OVERrated lately. The best example of an extremely overrated game is Halo 3. Its a completely average game in every way and yet it gets a ton of perfect 10s simply because reviewers don't dare give it lower scores because that would piss off all of those fans. Thats probably the same reason mario galaxy was rated so high, although I haven't played it so I can't really say.
This article really isn't clear at all. It could mean that the PS3, PS2, and PSP each sold 100,000 in one week (which doesn't seem likely), or it could mean that the PS3, PS2, and PSP combined sold 100,000 in a week, which seems too low. It could also be some unknown combination of consoles sold 100,000. This article doesn't solve any debate.
I'm a Sony loyalist, but I really can't see this game getting high 8s or 9s. Its just not gonna happen. I've read too many reports of bad graphics, glitches, and rushed development. I think it'll be better than a timeshift or a blacksite, but I don't see this being huge at all.
What does it mean that they sold "100,000 consoles of ALL TYPES" last week? Are they including PS2 sales in that 100,000 consoles sold figure?
Uncharted and Mass Effect are two completely different types of game. You can't really even compare the two side by side. You've got to compare mass effect with something like Oblivion, and uncharted with something like tomb raider. But you can't compare either game with anything right now because neither game is out yet. Settle down people.
The 360 has a lot of good games that you could use to argue that the 360 is better than the PS3, but instead you use Halo 3 as an example of how great the 360 is, thus proving that you're retarted. Halo 3 has truly terrible graphics, horrific voice acting, pink weapons and vehicles, a dumb story, and grunts with little kid voices. If you think that Halo 3 should be GOTY, then I feel sorry for you. You are not too bright.
I agree that all of those games deserve to be nominated, (except Halo 3) but I'd wager that the people who nominated those games never even played any of them at all. The Spike VGAS are just one long advertisment. The "people at Spike" are just TV producers and executives and they get together with the advertising and marketing people who work for these game companys and pretend to have an awards show. Its a sham and a joke. It means nothing.

The fact that this game is selling well sucks, because now developers are going to start cutting their single player games down to 5 or 6 hours like Call of Duty 4. If you throw out a really short single player and it will sell well, then why bother making a bigger, better single player experience? It would be a waste of money. This sucks.
I had a 20 gig PS3, but sold it because it was really loud and got incredibly hot. I now have a 40 gig and it is much, much cooler and much, much more quiet. I don't know if that is because of a 65nm or a design change, but definitely cooler and quieter.

Call it laziness if you want, but I used to have a game cube and a lot of their games came on multiple disks and it was a pain in the azz to switch them all the time.

You xbox fan boys keep saying that DVD 9 has plenty of space for this generation, but Blue Dragon is ALREADY using multiple dvds. Lost Horizon is expected to use 3 or 4 dvds. Dvd is already too small for these games. Games are using multiple dvds right now! This situation is not going to get better either, it will only get worse. Would you rather play Lost Horizon on 4 dvds or on one blu-ray disk? I think you know the answer to question.

Jazzman-go play Gears of War right now and look at any object that is more than about 8 feet away from your character. Look at how BLURRY that object is. Crysis looks awesome, but its nowhere near photorealistic. I think you've got to give games another 20 years or so before they look photorealistic.
The BS Police- If you think Halo 3 has good graphics and voice acting, then clearly you have never played Bioshock. If you think Halo 3 is funny then clearly you have never played a Grand Theft Auto game or Portal. This article claims that Variety "missed the point" because the Variety review focused on graphics instead of gameplay. I read the review and it did NOT miss the point. The review did NOT focus on graphics. The review said that the wii-mote controls didn't work very well on a platformer game. The review critcized the CONTROLS, the wii-mote, NOT the graphics.
